We use a Prestige pressure cooker in our kitchen and we love it dearly. Our frequency of usage is about three to four times a week which is slightly more than the average usage in most household kitchens. However, like most kitchen products nowadays, the gadget has to perform not only the prescribed task flawlessly, it should also be amenable to easy cleaning and the Prestige pressure cooker is no different. People have come to expect ease of cleaning as one of the requirements when purchasing any kitchen item.

Cleaning the Prestige pressure cooker is very easy, regardless of the model that you have. While some people tend to use the dishwasher for cleaning purposes, in our opinion that is not a preferred way. This is because the size of the vessel will end up occupying a large portion of your dishwasher and certainly more so if you have a large capacity model. The old fashioned manual method is what we recommend. Additionally, it is not recommended in our opinion to subject the rubber gasket materials to the dishwashing machine environment.

Simply use a standard hand dishwashing detergent or soap and a non-harsh scouring pad such as S.O.S or Scotch brand and clean and rinse with warm water. If additional deep cleaning of the internals is required, it has been found that a little lime juice added to warm water and then scrubbed internally and externally followed by a warm water rinse takes out all of the deposits left by the cooking process.

Rubber sealing rings should be cleaned gently taking care to avoid scratching the rubber surfaces. A little dab of cooking oil rubbed on to the rubber parts will keep the rubber nice and pliable and prevent dry rotting of the sealing rings. Even though the pressure cooker may not come in direct contact with food may times, keeping it clean and free of germs and bacteria is good for proper hygienical cooking practices.
